Cory Christopher dreams big. And then he makes those dreams come true. He is the creative mastermind behind Cory Christopher Design. What does he design? Basically, everything. You can hire him for home and garden design, styling your house, seasonal decorating, wedding design and florals, designing events, and he also hosts workshops. He doesn't stop working. Ever.
Cory is a farm-boy at heart. He grew up with nature as his best childhood friend. His parents had a tree nursery/garden, where he worked growing up. He discovered music and theatre and nurtured this creativity throughout high school at Victoria School of the Arts. He headed east to study theatre and art at Queens, then found himself craving the open prairies of home.
I collaborated with Cory a couple years ago for City and Dale when he was just starting out. I've always admired how he sets his sights on something and doesn't give up. He has a way of using materials you wouldn't expect, or putting a new twist on an old classic in a smart and attractive way. He's worked his way up, one collaboration after another, and now his name and signature style is associated with all the trendiest events in Edmonton. His studio transforms from one week to the next either acting as his space to create, hosting a trendy event, being a classroom, or becoming a seasonal market.
Cory's favourite holiday (by far!) is Christmas. Cory just set up his annual Christmas Market at his studio which will be open until the end of December (10914-105 Avenue). He has curated a collection of goods from local makers and designers set amongst a European market inspired backdrop. Shop, be inspired, and attend some of his workshops while you're at it. The goods will be switched up throughout the season so there is a reason to stop by often. Step in to his world. You are almost guaranteed to be inspired, and at the very least you'll be impressed.
Cory's Favourite Places
eat// The Dish & The Runaway Spoon - 12417 Stony Plain Rd
Cory loves the informal, cozy nature of the place. He likes a restaurant that makes great food but doesn't take themselves too seriously.
shop// Simons - #2401, 8882-170 Street
He loved Simons before he was affiliated with them. They appreciate creativity and art and shopping there makes Cory feel like he's in a big city.

He found it interesting to learn about juice from Glow and loves the freshness and smell when he walks in the place.
Cory's Favourite Things
Cory LOVES books. All kinds. He has piled them all over his bedroom and feels like he's absorbing their ideas and knowledge as he sleeps. He likes picture heavy books to find inspiration for his work.
covet// Christmas village
He has over 250 pieces that make up the tabletop village. He's collected each piece over many years so they all have a unique story to tell. You can see the whole village at the Christmas Market.

Cory's Words of Wisdom
The impossible is always possible. There is always a way to make something happen. The world is full of possibilities, it's our job to embrace them. He uses this thinking for himself and for the clients that come to him with a challenging idea for him to bring to life.
Look at that printing! Cory said he would practice his printing while watching TV when he was young. Not surprising that it's now perfect.
